Construct and revise an explanation based on valid and reliable evidence obtained from a variety of sources and the assumption that theories and laws that describe the natural world operate today as they did in the past and will continue to do so in the future.

TERMS

  • Cause - a thing that gives rise to an event

  • Effect - an event

  • Evidence - anything presented to support a claim

  • Explanation - a logical reason for a phenomenon

  • Phenomenon - observable events in the natural world (require explanations)

  • Reasoning - the action of thinking about something in a logical way

  • Revised - changed or made alterations to

  • Scientific - based on the methods and principles of science

  • Sources - a firsthand document or primary reference work
